Competitions

As well as providing an inclusive, stimulating and varied PE curriculum, Warton Nethersole's Primary School also participates in a variety of sporting competitions throughout the year. These range from local to county level. The children have the opportunity to hone and develop their skills and then to take part in competitions which create confidence and self-belief. You can view the sporting awards won over the years.

We had a very busy year in 2014/2015, competing in 24 competitions out of the 26 that North Warwickshire offered!


Football

Children in Years 5 and 6 went to Baddesley Fields to compete in the Middleton Shield, which they won. They, then, went through to compete at the North Warwickshire competition at Baddesley Fields, coming second.

Sports Hall Athletics

The children won the Cluster and North Warwickshire competitions and went on to represent North Warwickshire at the Level 3 School Games competition at Coventry Sports Centre.

Kwik Cricket

The children won the Cluster and North Warwickshire competitions and also the Outdoor Cricket League held at Atherstone Cricket Club.

Tennis

Children from Years 5 and 6 won the Cluster and North Warwickshire competitions and went on to represent North Warwickshire at the School Games Level 3 competition at Warwick University.

Outdoor Athletics

Children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 came second in the Small Schools competition at Tamworth Athletics Club.

Hockey

Children in Years 5 and 6 took part in the North Warwickshire competition.

Tag Rugby

Children in Years 5 and 6 won the North Warwickshire competition at Coleshill and went through to the District Finals.

Netball

Children in Years 5 and 6 were runners-up the North Warwickshire competition, and went on to compete at the district finals in Nuneaton.

Cross Country

Children in Years 3 and 4 won the Boys' and Girls' Small Schools competition.

Children in Years 5 and 6 won the Small Schools competition and then two children went on to represent Northern Area at the Warwickshire Primary Cross-Country Championships at Hartshill Hayes Park. Abigail Hamer won the girls race to become County champion.

Infant Agility

Children from Years 1 and 2 came second in the Cluster competition and went on to the North Warwickshire competition at the Pingles.

Quad Kids

Children from Years 3 and 4 came second in the Cluster competition at Polesworth.

Pentathlon

Children in Years 5 and 6 took part in the first pentathalon, held at Pingles. The girls team came third.

Inclusive School Games

Eight Key stage 2 children took part in the Inclusive School Games at Warwick University, taking part in archery and tennis.

Rounders

Children in Years 5 and 6 won the NWPSSA Rounders Tournament at Outwoods. They went on to the district finals where they came second. They were selected to represent North Warwickshire at the School Games competition at Warwick University.

November events entered:

Cross Country: Birchwood (Years 5/6)

Pearson Shield: Girls Football (Years 5/6)

Hockey Tournament:(Years 5/6 Mixed)
The team won and go through to the district final in May.

Primary Pentathlon: (Year 5/6)
3 girls and 3 boys took part in a swimming and running competition.

Sports Hall Athletics: (Year 5/6)
The team won this heat and are through to the next round. (NWPSSA Final)


December events entered:

Pearson Shield: Girls football (Years 5/6)


January events entered:

Indoor Cricket Tournament: (Years 5/6)
The team won and are through to the NWPSSA Final in February.

Sports Hall Athletics: (Years 5/6)
The team won the NWPSSA Final at Atherstone and will represent North Warwickshire in the County Final.

Cross Country: Warton (Years 5/6)
Warton won the girls small schools competition, the boys small schools competition and the overall small schools competition. Libbie Price came second overall. Four children were invited to represent North Warwickshire at the Inter-District Cross-Country competition.


February events entered:

Indoor Cricket Tournament Final: (Years 5/6)
The team came second in the final.

High Five Netball: (Year 5/6 mixed)
The team came second in their group.


March events entered:

Dodgeball Tournament: (Years 5/6 mixed)
This was the first time the competition has taken place. The team were runners-up and are through to the final in May.

Sports Hall Athletics: (Years 5/6)
The team represented North Warwickshire in the County Finals at Solihull.
